Wow. December. In some ways I feel like it snuck right up on me, but then I remember—I have a calendar, so I should have been prepared. But I never am . . . So, in the interest of holidays, time crunches, and gifts, my gift to you will be to keep this short. There isn’t a lot going on this month anyway, so I’ll use the space to share the links for some books I think will make great gifts for the readers on your lists.
The writers and authors I have met along the path to publishing my work, both online and in actual books, have been some of the most amazing, generous and supportive people I’ve ever met. All of them—and the books they’ve written—are among my favorite things—er—people. Whenever I have the opportunity to share their work or help promote their new books, I’ll take it. You can, too! Check out the list below.
Writing Groups & Classes
Right now, the Saturday AM Writing group is meeting regularly and my intention is to schedule some additional workshops in the new year. If you’re interested in the Sat. AM group, click this button:
If you’d like to be on the list to be notified when anything else comes up, email me and I’ll include you on the list. I don’t send out too many emails, so your inbox is relatively safe from me. :)
A short list of great books and writers
I may have mentioned some of these before, but it doesn’t hurt to get a reminder, right?
Amy Ferris - Her new book is Mighty Gorgeous and it’s her birthday month, so let’s celebrate that, too!
Katrina Willis - (of Book Christmas tree fame ;) She has a Substack newsletter you should check out—I love her writing. You will, too.
Lee Gaitan - Lee just had to undergo a grueling surgery, so let’s give her a little boost in the pineapples as a way to cheer her up! (You’ll get it if you click the link :)
Elinor Lipman - I only met her briefly at a book signing, but she’s wonderful. I’m reading Ms. Demeanor now, but all her books are so great.
Do you have anyone you’re reading you’d like me to promote here? Let me know! I’m still suffering some Reader’s Block, but I get some pages in now and then. Email me!
And some shameless self-promotion: I don’t think I could have even planned anything like this, but in one month, I had work appear in THREE anthologies! I’ll link them here if you’d like to check them out.
Story Circle Real Women Write Anthology - Mothers and Mentors: the Art of Nurturing
The Perspectives Project: A Collection of Guiding Life Philosophies
Enjoy!
An update on my next book!
Last month I let you know that the pub date had been changed and now I can tell you why and when! My new pub date is September 17, 2024 and the reason why it was changed is because She Writes Press and SparkPress have entered into a distribution agreement with Simon & Schuster! This means that our books will be distributed along with all the other S&S books as well as being listed on their catalogs and website. (Read a little more about it here.)
I’m still working on getting a publisher for Everyday Grief and it is currently being considered by one now. I’m still looking for blurbs and support, so please feel free to reach out with your suggestions and connections. (Especially if you’re connected to Anderson Cooper—I think he’d be interested in this project! ;)
That’s all for now. Wishing you all a healthy and warm holiday season. Hug your family a bunch of times—and then some more. See you next year!
