I recently wrote about having a new view through which to take in everything that’s happening around me. Not just personally, but in our town, our country, our world. It’s rough out there, right? I don’t think it’s just me; between cancer, Covid and the war in Ukraine, if I’m not fretting about Annie’s next test, I’m masking up at reports of surges and feeling astounded that there is still a war happening on our globe, that continues to take lives, destroy land and disrupt the economy and security of everyone on the planet. As in the other essay, I lamented that almost every area in my life is infected with some new variant of stress. Where does one look, then, for support?
Cindy, you may not remember this, but I went to see Joni Mitchell with your brother Richard at the Frank Ervin Center about ~~years ago! I love that song too! Tracy
It's interesting how that something that is"present in the world" comes to each of us with different faces. Each of us having difficulty recognizing that they are all true and here to comfort us in our own unique way. What I love most about your writing is that it is so gentle in the way it tells the most profound truths.
